Great Show! I need more popcorn.....hurry!
What Fun!! The Ansi Animation Slideshow. Ver 2.0 Page 2
Requirements:
Dos Version 3x and up.
Video: Color: CGA - EGA - VGA
System: IBM XT/PC or better.
Memory: 200K Available free memory.
AASS no longer requires that ANSI.SYS or the like be loaded
into system memory.
Mouse support has been added.
The Ansi Animation Slide Show will display your Ansi and/or Avatar files
in a slideshow format. Each file is presented in the order found, and
display is quick!
The Ansi Animation Show is easy to use! Simply log onto the directory
where your Ansi/Avatar Files are kept and type AASS.
You're on your way.
Typing AASS ? will display a command summary screen.
NOTE: AASS.EXE will only display files with an extension of .ANS
or .AVT, all other files are ignored.
NOTE ON AVATAR FILES:
Depending on how the Avatar file format was created, they =may= not
display correctly in AASS. Specificaly, Ansi files that have been
converted to Avatar format with AVTCONV.EXE, which is included with
RemoteAccess BBS, seem to have a problem, depending on the screen
content. Some work fine, some are terrible.
I have found that by loading the ANSI version of a problem file, into
TheDraw (ver 4.51+) and saving in AVATAR format, corrects the problem.
STARTUP:
The Opening Screen contains a Menu showing - Auto Manual Pick Quit -
You may use the cursor keys or a mouse to select, pressing enter,
or cliking the left mouse button will activate the choice.
You may also press the highlighted letter of the menu item.
PICK LIST:
Choosing Pick from the menu, will display a scrollable picklist to the
right of the screen. Here you can "TAG" files to view. If there are
more files than will fit in the window, you will see direction arrows
in the lower right corner of the box frame.
Scrolling is done by the Up/Dn arrow keys, PgUp/PgDn, Home, End or
placing the mouse cursor on a direction arrow and pressing the left
mouse button.
Tagging is accomplished by pressing the spacebar on a file name, or

clicking the left mouse button. Tagging is a "toggle" the tag state is
reversed, if it's not tagged, it becomes tagged, if it's tagged, it
becomes un-tagged.
You can move to a specific file by pressing a letter key, the highlight
bar will jump to the first file that has that character at the start of
the name. This is called "Hunting" and can be a handy feature.
MANUAL MODE:
This will display the first file found, then at the bottom of the
screen an info bar will display showing the file
name, and at the far right some commands. Auto / Redraw / Next /Delay
/Exit. These are presented in a menu format, use the cursor keys to
move the highlight bar then press enter, or click with the left mouse
button on your choice. You may also press the Highlighted letter of
the menu choice.
Redraw: Will redraw the current screen.
Next: Displays the next picture.
Auto: Prompts for a Delay time, and puts you into Auto Show Mode.
Delay:Prompts for a delay time in milliseconds, acceptable values are
0 to 150 (aprox 1/8 second). If you are viewing a file with
lots of animation on a 386/486, you may want to slow it down.
Once a delay is entered, the screen will be redrawn. This delay
stays in effect until you change it, or the program ends.
Exit: Clears the screen and Exits the program.
AUTO MODE:
A box will display asking you for the delay time (in seconds) to
pause between drawings, values are from 0 sec to 10 sec. Anything
lower, or pressing Enter on the blank field, will set the delay to
the default pause of 3 seconds. 5 seconds is also a comfortable
pause, anything higher might be a bit boring.
A delay of 0 puts on quite an interesting show! Experiment.
During Auto Mode viewing, you can Change the Delay time, Pause at
the current screen (get more popcorn), or Abort the show.
You can also switch back to Manual Mode. Anytime the screen is being
drawn, or during the delay between draws, you can press any of the
command keys (highlighted), the command will be checked and
processed prior to the next screen being displayed.
QUIT: Yep...thats what it does.
FLOPPY FILES:
Great Show! I need more popcorn.....hurry!
What Fun!! The Ansi Animation Slideshow. Ver 2.0 Page 4
You can display files from a floppy too. First log onto the floppy
drive, then type AASS, the program will display files from the
floppy disk. The drawing will be somewhat slower!
In order for the above to work AASS.EXE needs to be stored in a
directory that is listed in your PATH staement.
HOW MANY FILES:
The Registered version of AASS will display an UNLIMITED number of
Ansi files. The EVALUATION copy is limited to 6 files. After the 6th
file has been displayed, the program will end.
Thats about it....its time for you to experiment.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS:
Ansi Animation Slide Show was written with Turbo Pascal
version 7.0, a product of Borland International.
Great Show! I need more popcorn.....hurry!
What Fun!! The Ansi Animation Slideshow. Ver 2.0 Page 5
A GREAT programming language!
Thanks Borland, for a job well done.
All screens in The Slide Show were created with the Saywhat! screen
generator, a product of Software Science. Saywhat is hands down the
best utility to create and manipulate screens from within MANY
programming languages.
My appreciation to Software Science.
A special thanks to Mark May, for his help with the Avatar Display, and
some of his PD code!
Any and All other programs mentioned are Copyrighted by their respective
Authors.
To those of you who Register, Thanks for helping support the
SHAREWARE CONCEPT! Registering this and other products, give the
authors incentive to continue enhancements and to develop new products
for your use.
